50 Years of Superdrug May 2014 Glossybox

After hearing on the grapevine that Glossybox was teaming up with Superdrug to their celebrate their 50 year anniversary, with a promise of four full-size products, I was super super excited to receive my box. After reading a few reviews on what other people had got in theirs (Rimmel mascaras and Max Factor primers) I was even more thrilled! However, when I ran out of the post office, got in my car and ripped open the packaging, I was left feeling a little...meh.

This month's Glossybox was based around the "Summer Beauty Edit" which, granted, some of the products are definite staples for summer. However, I don't know whether it's me just me being fussy, but I do like to see a product in there that's worth a bit of £££. I feel like I've got my money's worth when I see a mascara in there worth £15 or a high end nail varnish. To be fair, Glossybox did surprise us all with seven products this month instead of the usual five, but the extra two products were just small samples anyway? So, let's get onto the products!

MAYBELLINE COLORSHOW CRYSTALIZE NAIL POLISH IN NEARLY BLACK
Now, I don't know about you but who wants to be wearing black nail varnish in Summer? I love the fact that Glossybox included a full size nail varnish in there but come on - black? I would have loved to have seen a gorgeous bright red or a beautiful summery orange but nope, I got a sparkly black. I think I'll save that for New Year's Eve.

Full size product - £3.99

JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ-EASE 6 EFFECTS SERUM
I think this product is definitely going to be great for Summer. The Frizz-Ease serum claims to eliminate frizz and repel humidity for glossy, silky smooth hair. I currently use the Tony & Guy Shine Gloss serum for my frizz needs however, I can't wait to give this a go. I've never actually used anything from the Frizz-East range so it's nice to be able to try something new - that's what beauty boxes are all about, right?

Full size product - £3.99

I LOVE COSMETICS STRAWBERRES & MILKSHAKE SHIMMER & SHINE LIP GLOSS
I'm not a huge lip gloss girl really but I LOVE the smell and taste of this product! Stupid as it sounds but it really does taste like strawberries and milkshake. However, I only really wear lip products on special occasions. I think that lip glosses can be a bit of a faf as they disapear after you have a sip of your drink or a bite to eat. I wouldn't buy this product on the high street but it was nice to be introduced to the brand.

Full size product - £1.29

EYLURE VOLUME 107 LASHES
I've used Eylure lashes for a while so it's not something that I'm new to. The Eylure lashes have always impressed me and I always try to keep hold of the lash glue that comes with them as I think it's really good. As I said, I'm not massively excited about this product but it means that I don't have to go out and buy some for next time I go out!

Full size product - £5.35

SIMPLE KIND TO SKIN ILLUMINATING RADIANCE CREAM
I've never actually used anything from the Simple range but had always been drawn to it when browsing for something else. I was really glad to see this in my box as it means I won't have to waste money on trying it out if I don't like it. I've got my fingers crossed that it actually does what it says on the tin. An illuminating radiance cream will be great to use for the summer months as I don't tend to wear much make-up! Let me know if you've used this.

Full size product - £8.99

GARNIER OIL BODY LOTION
I wasn't hugely impressed when I saw this product in my box as I don't really like the tiny little sample pouches that you can just about squeeze a 50p sized-amount out of. This will no doubt be added to my sample collection along with my growing stash. I will probably give it a go at some point.

Sample product (Full size - £4.99)

GHOST FRAGRANCE IN ECLIPSE
I do actually like receiving these samples of fragrances in boxes and I really love this one from Ghost. I like to throw them in my Emergency Handbag Kit as they're so much easier that carrying round a huge bottle. It's nice to try different fragrances and be introduced to new scents that I never thought I'd like. I would actually buy this one full size as it smells GORGEOUS!

Sample product (Full size - £33)

There are a couple of products in this month's box that I'm really excited about. However, looking at what other people received in theirs, I think I could have done a little better! Leave your Glossybox posts below so I can nosey at what you got!

  3. I always want to sign up to a monthly subscription box, but I'd hate to be disappointed! It's a shame the Max Factor Primer wasn't in yours, if I was subscribed I'd have really wanted that in mine! Lovely post hun :)

  4. I loved my Glossybox. I especially loved the Vaseline cocoa spray moisturiser. I can understand you not liking the black polish for Summer though.
