Garden Party in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Most people out there either have been or know someone who has been affected by cancer. I don't need to tell you about the heartache and grief that it can bring but I will tell you about some of the fantastic things that people are doing to raise money for a charity who help make things as easy as they can be. Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity that helps cancer sufferers and their families through everything. My own personal experience of Macmillan nurses was absolutely second-to-none. They really are the loveliest team of people and I could not thank them enough for how much they supported and helped us through a very difficult time.

So, in light of this, taking full advantage of last weekends glorious weather, we decided to throw a garden party and raise money for the fantastic cause. We had a raffle and tombola with over 40 prizes all donated by friends and family. We had so many games too. A "Guess the Sweets in the Jar", the classic straw game, throwing the coin the closest to the bottle of alcohol (that was one very popular, I wonder why haha), a treasure hunt, home made cakes and my Dad also played head chef for the day selling hot dogs and burgers from the BBQ.

We could not believe the turn out and were overwhelmed with the generosity of all our friends and family. Overall we raised £413.45 which we were absolutely AMAZED by! It just goes to show that you really don't have to go out of your way to be able to make a difference to a wealthy cause. A group of friends and family having fun in the sun with a few drinks (some more than others!) raised over £400! I am so thankful for everyone that came along, generously donated and had a great time together.

Here are some snaps of the day!

  2. Looks like a great day! Macmillan nurses really are lovely and when my Mum was being treated it was Macmillan nurses who were her primary carers not NHS staff. You should be so proud of the money you've raised!
